Tony says
Juan Gonzalez never wore #13. He was assigned #13 in 1989, but when he debuted for the Rangers, he wore #19. Harold Baines wore #13.
Joe Siegler says
He did wear #13, but not in season. Do you see the (st) next to the name? That stands for “Spring Training”. If you look at the 1989 Media Guide, it will show Juan assigned that for spring training this year.
Juan Gonzalez didn’t debut in 1989 until Sep 1 – at that point he was given 19. Jeff Stone wore #19 in 1989 in season in April and May, and Bob Meacham wore #19 in 1989 during spring training as well.
