This was another game that I didn’t get to pay attention to due to my big project at work this week. This will probably extend into next week, too. However, a quick glance at the box score shows a few highlights:
Kevin Mench had a home run.
Our pitching was fairly decent – 9IP, 3ER, 7H, 7K, 5BB (too many walks)
None of our batters had more than one hit total.
Nice to stop the losing streak.

Game Recap
SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — Pinch-runner Drew Meyer slid under a tag at home in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday to lift the Texas Rangers to a 4-3 win over the San Francisco Giants.
With one out in the ninth, Adam Hyzdu singled and went to second on an error. Meyer came in to run and dashed home on Tim Olson’s single off reliever Matt Anderson (0-1) to snap the Rangers’ four-game losing streak.
“I don’t think if you go in that locker room there would be anybody who even knows about that streak,” Rangers manager Buck Showalter said. “But how about that pitching?”
Texas starter Kameron Loe and San Francisco’s Kevin Correia both had solid outings.
Correia gave up only one hit while tossing four shutout innings. Loe allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base and score two runs before settling down to get the next 12 batters.
The Giants jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Jason Ellison singled to left on the first pitch of the game and scored on a triple by Dan Ortmeier. Todd Linden reached after being hit by a pitch and then was caught up in a double play that brought Ortmeier home with the second run.
“My back was a little stiff coming in, but I only threw one bad pitch — on the triple,” Loe said. “It was belly-button high. I loosened up by the end of the inning and had my slider and fastball working. I was basically just throwing to the glove at that point.”
Loe has been tabbed as the No. 4 starter in the Rangers’ rotation while Correia is fighting for the No. 5 spot in the Giants’ rotation.
“Making the rotation is my goal,” Correia said. “Today I was able to get ahead of most of the hitters and that makes for short innings. That’s been a problem for me the past few years.”
Kevin Mench continued his torrid hitting pace for the Rangers, tying it at 2 with a two-run home run in the sixth inning. He extended his seven-game hitting streak with his fourth homer of the spring.
The Giants took a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth before Texas tied it again in the bottom half of the inning on a two-out RBI double by Rashad Eldridge.
Kevin Frandsen went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Giants.
Notes
The Rangers assigned RHP Jayson Durocher to minor league camp. The non-roster invitee was 0-0 in three appearances this spring with a 9.00 ERA. … Giants OF did not make the trip to Surprise to play the Rangers … OF Laynce Nix is expected to play in the field within the next few days after being limited this spring by shoulder pains.
