The Texas Rangers announced today that the club will play its class AA farm club, the Tulsa Drillers of the Texas League, in an exhibition game on Thursday, March 30, 1999.
The game will be played at 4:05 p.m. at Drillers Stadium in Tulsa. The Rangers will break spring training camp the previous day before playing in Tulsa on Thursday. Texas will then close the exhibition season with games against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, March 31 at The Ballpark in Arlington at 7:05 p.m. and versus the Houston Astros on Saturday, April 1 at the new Enron Field in Houston at 2:05 p.m.
This will be the eighth time that the Rangers and Drillers have met since Tulsa became a Texas affiliate in 1982. The Rangers have won four games with the Drillers recording a 16-5 victory in the last meeting on May 16, 1996. Tickets will go on sale in January.
The rest of the Rangers’ spring training schedule will be announced at a later date.
